Film Screening: Genocide in the Wildflower State

Film Screening: Genocide in the Wildflower State In-Person / Online

You are invited to an exclusive film screening of ‘Genocide in the Wildflower State’ with Executive Producers Dr. Jim Morrison, Tony Hansen and Alan Carter.

Palawa Associate Lecturer Lindsay McCabe, whose research focuses on the experience of Aboriginal families within the coronial system, will join the film’s Executive Producers for a Q&A following the screening.

This powerful documentary exposes the devastating impact of Western Australia’s policies of forced child removal and assimilation, rooted in eugenics and aimed at creating a “White Australia.” Survivors share harrowing testimonies of life in missions and institutions that operated as concentration camps for Aboriginal children.

“My father and my mother never got the chance to be parents to me… The only thing I can do moving forward… is always be there for my children.”
Brenda Greenfield, Survivor, Gnowangerup Mission

Featuring archival images, historical records, and survivor voices, the film reveals untold grief and intergenerational trauma, while presenting proposals for justice and healing.

Executive Producers:

  • Dr. Jim Morrison – Minang-Goreng Noongar Elder, Chair of WA Stolen Generations Aboriginal Corporation, advocate for healing and justice.
  • Tony Hansen – Senior Traditional Custodian, Stolen Generations Survivor, Co-Chair of Bringing Them Home Committee WA.
