RFA 4: Fast track to Funding Success

RFA 4: Fast track to Funding Success Online

This session will begin with a presentation on what funders look for in researchers and what funders look for in research projects, which will lead into tips on how to position yourself right from the start to increase your chances of getting grants.

Representatives from Western’s Grant Services Team will provide an overview of the research funding landscape in Australia and information about selecting suitable funding sources and how to create a strong application. Finally, a successful researcher will share their story of their funding 'journey' and offer their advice.

  • List the characteristics of researchers who are awarded funding
  • List aspects of projects that are awarded funding
  • Explain the services provided by the Grant Services Team at Western
  • List the four main categories of research funding in Australia
  • Name sources of funding for projects in their discipline
  • Assess their eligibility for sources of funding, according to their area of research and experience
  • Identify suitable partners for preparing funding applications
  • Write a time line to develop a funding application
  • Relate aspects of the funding journey of a Western researcher to their own pathway
