Academic Literacy Resources Community of Practice

Academic Literacy Resources Community of Practice Online

Dear Western Sydney University Community,

We would like to invite you to join the Western Sydney University Academic Literacy Resources Community of Practice (CoP). This CoP has emerged from the Academic Literacy Advisory Group (ALAG) that reports to the Senate Education Committee.

Please join our Viva Engage group for updates. Register below to receive the Zoom link.

This time our CoP is focused on innovative uses of gen AI in teaching and how we can better support students and staff in their use of gen AI.

We have two amazing guest speakers lined up:

Dr Gabe Perrone, Senior Lecturer in Human Genetics, will be providing an introductory demo of Google NotebookLM and his Cell Biology NBLM Textbook Approach. Dr Gabe is leading the way with Google NotebookLM at Western. He is a super engaging and innovative educator - you don't want to miss his presentation!

Fiona Salisbury, Executive Director Library Services, will be presenting on the university-wide Reading List Transformation Project: From Print to Digital. It is so important we reduce the financial burden that students face and ensure they can access their subject readings for free. Additionally, in the age of Gen AI, students are asking even more for digital texts rather than physical texts so they can use tools like Google NotebookLM - this is the point where our two CoP talks converge!

So please come along and join us for a fascinating and inspirational discussion!
