Open Access Publishing & Research Data Management for Researchers In-Person / Online

Do you want to know about Open Access Publishing and Research Data Management and how it relates to you?  Then this presentation by the Library is for you. 

This session looks at the importance of publishing Open Access. The Scholarly Publishing Consultant will discuss open access and publishing options for your research. This session is aimed at anyone relatively new to scholarly publishing or who is interested in the latest developments in open access publishing.   

The Research Data Management Consultant will discuss the importance of Research Data Management in a research project and in various ways you can use, re-use and share data.

A 'must-see' for anyone who is about to start a project or who is approaching the end and needs help with archiving and publishing solutions.

This workshop will cover:

Open Access Publishing: 

  • What is Open Access
  • Open access policies and mandates (including funding mandates)
  • Open access routes vs traditional publishing
  • Article Processing Charges and Read & Publish Agreements (including author rights and creative commons licensing)
  • Open access publishing workflows 
  • What to do once your paper is published (including ResearchDirect and open access) 

Research Data Management:  

  • The importance of the Research Data Management Plan in your research project
  • Secure storage, archiving, copyright and potential publishing of datasets that accompany research outputs
